naughty beyond forty...........

Dil................to bachcha hai ji :)

Why undermine men by saying “they r naughty at 40” when they stay naughty much longer after that too??…men in west exemplify it best…... Berlusconi!! How old is he?? Regardless!! He’s good enough to flirt with an 18-year-olds, currently a model Noemi Letitia who calls him “Daddy” and it was a Moroccan belly dancer Ruby just before.

The IMF head Dominique Strauss Kahn! Fed up of French, tried something “American” and they’ve put him behind bars. Poor soul !! No wonder makers of blue pill bails him out, it’s after all free publicity to their wonder drug and who else can model it better than the IMF Boss.

French are known to be romantic, and as one BBC reporter put it “French people are soft towards their politicians going extra marital”. with this attitude no wonder all hotels accommodating French men will have to post statutory warning on doors “French inside”.

The list is endless, to quote current politician and the one before him would be enough to generalize. Francois Mitterrand and his (in) famous affair with art historian Anne Pengeot and present one Nicolas Sarkozy.

In a controversial new book on the effects of infidelity on married life, Men, Love, Fidelity, figures cite that an estimated 39 per cent of French men cheat on their wives at some stage in their life. That’s quite a number !!!!......................we can imagine their social structure.

One in our part of world finds it difficult to comprehend the Americans being so offended by an attempted rape of a hotel maid when their own President was involved in nothing less than similar offence or may be even worse since he lied under oath.

Well it’s their ego’s clashing they’ll sort it out. My simple question is “why have the French imposed ban on other women from covering their heads by hijab” ? What’s so wrong if they protect their modesty with so many crazy men around??

I know……my voice is feeble, wont resound ……it’s just a thought for sharing….enjoy the attached pics and the slideshow and have a nice weekend.

Cheers

Moin Akhtar......Khiraj-e-Aqeedat

Moin Akhtar………………….a tribute from India

Koi bhi achanak huee maut ab mujhey nahee chaunkaati. Aisey haadson ki kasrat se zehan aadi ho chala hai lekin Moin Akhtar ka yun achanak chaley jana hosh-o-hawaas pe bhaari para. 23 April ki shab dilli mein bahen k ghar par Kuwait wapsi k safar se pehle ki udaasi se kamyab jung lartey hue IPL match dekh raha tha k ye khabar mili. Tab se ab tak is haqeeqat ko samajhne mein aur wo alfaaz dhundhne mein waqt lag gaya jo mujh jaisey mamooli insaan ki aqeedat is qaddawar fankaar se bayan kar sakein…khabar sunkar pehli kaifiyat wo huee jo Javed Akhtar sahab ne bayan karee, “kuch log itne zinda dil hotey hain k socha hi nahee ja sakta k wo mar bhi sakte hain”….Moin Akhtar bhi aisi hi ek shakhsiyat thee…wo fan k us urooj pe they k jinse dil abhi bhara nahee tha……zamana badey shauq se sun raha tha…..humeen so gaye dastaan kehtey kehtey……..

Shuroo se hi ghar pe adabi mahaul mila, filmon pe tabserah bhi uska ek hissa tha. Dilip Kumar ka tazkera Kasrat se hota tha….yun kahiye wo hamein virasat miley aur unki shakhsiyat humein ghutti mein pilayee gayee lihaza merey wajood par unka rang itna pukhta hai jiska ab utar pana taqreeban namumkin hai…aur shayad zarurat bhi nahee hai….. bachpan mein hamarey role model badey bhai they jo Kishore Kumar ko bahot Umdah gaatey they nateejan hum bhi unke idol ko follow karne lagey……mehfilon mein jo gaane bhayya gaatey they wo hum Akeley mein gungunaya kartey lihaza shuroo se hi Kishore da bhi dil-o-dimaagh pe chasp hain. Performing arts se talluq rakhne wali in do hastiyon se shanasaee ya khaasi waqfiyat bachpan mein hi ho gayee…..bahot baad mein jab unke fan ko samajhne ka shaoor aaya to humne baqayeda unke paristaron ki fehrist mein apna naam likhaya. Lekin jis ek shakhs k fan ko maine badey hotey hue lamha dar lamha samjha wo Moin Akhtar they.

Stage se wabastgi bhi bachpan se rahi….1975 International Childrens Year tha jab umr taqreeban 6-7 baras ki rahi hogi, is saal pehli martba AMU k Kenndey Auditorium mein perform kiya. ….jin logon ne stage kiya hai wo bakhubi jantey hain k live audience ke samne perform karne ka nasha kya hota hai……lihaza is exposure aur ghar k mahaul ki wajaha se adakari, mausiqui ka shauq parwaan charha..

1977 lag gaya tha aur janata party ki hukumat mein Hindustan Pakistan k rishton ki talkhi kuch kam huee, border khul gaya aur logon ka aana jana shuroo ho gaya ……
Isi dauraan Moin Akhtar ka pehla audio cassette release hua aur isne hindustan k urdu speaking awaam mein tehelka macha diya…….audio comedy entertainment ka ekdum naya concept tha kyunki filmon k alawa tafreeh k naam par radio hi tha jis par bhi zadatar filmi programs nashr kiye jatey they….sirf awaz se mizaah paida kiya jasakta hai logon ko is cassette ko sunkar pata chala….aur jab ye aaya to iske lateefey itne maqbool hue k rozmarra ki zabaan mein istemaal kiye jaane lagey…..Moin Akhtar k mukalmon ki adayegi ne purane chutkulon mein bhi nayee jaan de di…………chahey wo angrezi film Mackenna’s Gold k scene ki manzarkashi ho ya Hashim Bhai Kashim Bhai k mushairey ka bayan ho, har presentation shaahkaar tha…….ye lateefey itne zada maqbool hue k us daur k kuch log ab bhi apni bol chaal mein aksar inka istemaal kartey hain……..jo log bhool gaye hon unhe ek lateefa yaad dilate chalun jisme ek gaanv k sahib apne dost ko pahanne k liye apna pajama detey hain aur panchayat mein introduce karate hue bol detey hain……”sadey pind de chaudhary inna di bade kheti ibaari…….par pajamma mera hai………” is lateefey ka aakhiri jumla……”ae le tu phad apna pajama” itna hit hua k aaj bhi is jumley ko main ab bhi tafreehan yahan tahan istemaal kar leta hun…...

1978 mein India Pakistan ki cricket series huee jisme test matches live telecast hue aur isi daur mein VCR bhi a gaya. Amritsar mein recorded Pakistani TV plays ghar ghar mein pahoch gaye….Pakistan television ne ek tarah se Hindutasn k urdu speaking awaam ko mureed kar liya aur isi tarah hamari filmon ne Pakistani awam ko deewana bana diya…Amitabh Bachchan phenomena sarhad paar bhi shiddat se mahsoos honey laga…...Moin Akhtar khud Dilip Kumar ke shaidaai they aur unki bahut umdaah naqal kartey they….balki PTV ke bahot se maqbool artists khud ko Dilip Saheb ki parchaii se azad na kar sakey aur usi andaz mein acting kartey they…Moin Akhtar taqreeban har stage program mein Dilip Kumar ki mimicry zarur kartey they…ye dono mulkon k beech ek khubsurat daur raha jab cultural exchange urooj pe tha……Hamarey mulk mein fan ki hamesha qadr huee hai aaj bhi Adnan Sami, Rahat Fateh Ali waghaira Pakistan se zyadah yahan maqbool hain aur yaheen rehtey hain….ye hamarey mulk ke awaam ka badapan hai jo bawajood tamaam talkhiyon k Pakistani fankaron ki qadr kartey hue unhe aala muqaam detey hain………isko yun bhi kaha ja sakta hai k fan kissi sarhad ko nahee maanta...wo is bandish se azaad hai..

Khair, 80’s mein hamarey ghar mein bhi VCR aa gaya aur kiraaye par cassettes aaney lagey…films dekhne par thori pabandi thee lekin PTV k dramey kasrat se dekhey jaatey they…...mujhey in dramon ka chaska lag gaya aur main baqayedgi se inki study karta tha….beinteha umdaah urdu aur bemisaal adakaari…..ye dramey ek nasha ban gaye they……Ankahi, Tanhaiyaan, dhoop kinarey Haseena Moin k shaahkaar they jinka koi saani na tha a hai…..mujhey Haseena Moin se mulaqaat ka sharf haasil hai jab Amstedam se Kuwait tak ki flight mein wo marey saath theen aur unhone meri PTV ki maloomaat ko saraha bhi……

Moin Akhtar ne stage aur TV anchoring ko naya aayaam de diya tha…anchoring suit boot stereo type se bahar ayee aur apni mojoodgi ka ehsaas karane lagi….Moin Akhtar ki barjastgi aur shararat se bhari muskurahat achchi se achchi celebrity ko bauna bana deti thee mujhey unke aise beshumar interviews yaad hain jinme unhone apne se oonchey qad wali celebrities ko apne besakhta jumlon se baghlein jhaankne ko majboor kar diya……..unki performances dekhne k baad mujhey aksar rashk hota tha k ek insaan mein itna talent kaisey mumkin hai ?? jo na sirf ek stage performer hai balki ek achcha script writer, actor aur theek thaak sa singer bhi hai…...Angan Terha mein Shayar ka unka kirdaar, Rozi ka double role, eid train mein hakley ka kirdaar…….kiska zikr kiya jaaye………… har ek performance pe mazmoon likha ja sakta hai……. Dustin Hoffman ki Tootsie se inspired Rozi mein Moin Akhtar ne dono male aur female characters itne bakhoobi kiye k ek taraf jahan beinteha hansaya waheen rula bhi diya…….. ek chota sa drama tha eid train….jisme Akhtar Hakley baney they aur “Abey Lota Mila” unka takiya kalaam tha….ye jumla main aaj bhi aksar kisi khoi huee cheez ko dhundhtey logon se poochta hun , “abbey lota mila” …

Moin Akhtar ko Indian subcontinent mein standup comedy ka baani agar kaha jaaye to shayd ghalat na hoga… unke scene pe aaney k baad bahot se standup comedians aaye Jinmen Umar Shareef, ustaad k fan k kaafi qareeb aa gaye. Donon ne stage play “Bakra qiston pe” mein ek saath kaam kiya aur comedy ko inteha par pahoncha diya…Umar Shareef ne bazate khud ek umdaah fankar hotey hue bhi hamesha Moin Akhtar ko original ustaad ka darja diya….Hindustan ki entertainment industry ne hamesha unke contribution ko maana aur unke inteqaal k baad johny lever ne kaha k Moin Akhtar unke inspiration they.

90’s mein jab Moin teamed up with Anwar Maqsood in Loose Talk, history was created ….is program mein writing creativity aur adakaari ki nayee bulandiyan define ki gayeen……ye program musalsal 7 saal tak chala aur pakka nahee hai par suna hai k Guinness book mein Moin Akhtar ek program mein maximum characters adaa karne k liye darj kiye gaye…Lagataar 7 saal tak taqreeban har haftey ek naya kirdaar likhna Anwar Maqsood ki zahanat ki daleel hai aur itne arsey tak har haftey ek naya kirdaar adaa karna Moin Akhtar ki azmat ki sanad hai…....Moin saheb ki badqismati ek ghareeb mulk mein paida hona rahee warna mera yaqeen hai k agar ye shakhs kisi west ke mulk mein paida hua hota to naa jaane kis muqaam par hota.

Baharhaal apne hunar apne fan se samaj mein muskurahatein bikherne wala ek sutoon dhah gaya…inse mulqaat ki meri hasrat ab hamesha k liye dil hi mein reh gayee….meri qalam mein jo bhi tootey phootey alfaaz they likh diye lekin ye meri aqeedat ko bayan karne k liye nakaafi hain…..
Moin Bhai, zindigi badastoor jaari hai lekin apke baad dunia mein hamara dil thora kam lagta hai……………..

Nostalgia........

Nostalgia-Class of 83 OLF
Abhi kuch baras pehle TV per ek serial aaya karta tha “The Wonder years” aur main isko bila nagha dekha karta tha becoz it reminded me of my wonder years in school. Life was beautiful then, full of mischief and innocence. Even now after almost halfway through life, I fondly remember those friends, my numerous crushes, sports, teachers and exams.
I went to Our Lady Of Fatima school from class 1 till 10th which was or rather is still the best school in town.
Probably in mid of 2010 I met Akhilesh and Sheeba on the facebook and communication followed. Despite a gap of nearly three decades in between I could recall these two school friends distinctly. Finding them after these years was truly exciting.
Online interaction graduated to phone calls and then someone from the three of us projected the idea of meeting sometime. Desire to meet in person grew and eventually quite unbelievingly we were around 35 classmates who met on the 2nd April 2011 at Ghaziabad Indian Air Force base where Akhilesh is posted. It was my moment of pride was when at the gate of air base, a young air force boy politely asked us whether we were Wing Commander Chauhan’s guests. I was overjoyed at being so respectfully welcomed and that my childhood friend was “Topgun” a-la Tom Cruise. By the way in one of his pictures on FB he does look like the Hollywood star, on a sports bike next to a light airplane on runway.
I being far away in Kuwait could do no better than giving suggestions about venue and food. Akhilesh and Sheeba beautifully coordinated among the classmates and an account “Class of 83 OLF” was created on FB by Akhilesh and it grew bigger within months. Phone numbers were exchanged and these two minds working behind this re-union interacted with other friends over phone. I planned my trip to India accordingly. I believe Akhilesh was encouragingly supported by Supriti, his very sweet wife.
The airbase inside is a different world, Lush green with luxurious houses and deep woods all around. Initial gathering was on roof of a sports club overlooking the golf course. Setting was perfect, weather was soothing and emotions were heightened beyond capacity. Nostalgia was being defined; hugs were passionately squeezing and long. I don’t have words and how would anyone know what it feels like meeting friends separated by 28 years. It is beyond comprehension for those who have not experienced it. I have practically observed that school friends connect at same frequency and energy that flowed between us during school days, far from inhibitions. Except ounces of flesh or grey hair nothing had changed much, their mannerisms, speech and faces were just the same which I had in my memory or which I sometimes dreamt of. Some of them have grown in stature and money but this day we met like school going teenage boys and girls full of joy and enthusiasm. Young children of these friends who had accompanied to this union must have enjoyed their parent’s return to school age.
Honestly speaking, I could not recall some of the faces but with the remaining ones attending this meet, I had beautiful associations during school. Akhilesh was in skit which we presented in farewell party to outgoing class X. He was a real naughty character full of gimmicks, naturally good at comedy. Rehearsals were hugely entertaining. We, including Mrs. Pant, our class teacher, often would have tears in eyes, laughing. Akhilesh and I continued meeting even after high school till he qualified and moved to NDA.
Sheeba was the most smiling face of our batch, none could ever know even if she was sad or she was actually never sad as she always smiled. Meeting Iqbal bhai her husband and her lovely kids was a beautiful experience too. Iqbal bhai is a chartered accountant; his pure lakhnavi andaz in chaste Urdu is a treat to soul.
Mukesh was the chairman of our Khadda committee named after a small crater in corner of OLF sports field. This khadda was surrounded by bushes and three or four of us would go there to eat lunch in recess. Aijaz Masud and Pankaj are the other two whom I can recall.
Recess se yaad aaya k cycle stand k barabar mein ek canteen tha jahan par samosey miltey they 4 aaney ka ek hota tha aur us samosey ka zaiqa school k baad phir kaheen nahee mila. Jis din jeib mein aath aaney hotey they us din lagta tha k duniya pe apni hukumat.
I have fond memories of almost all present that day, Rohit was undoubtedly the most handsome guy in our class, a blonde with neatly creased uniform always. Anupama was another ever smiling face who, if I am not mistaken was extremely fond of playing basketball. After passing out from school we learnt that Rohit and Anu married. Before Mujib Zuberi’s genius was discovered, Amber was the only genius we knew. As a quiet and composed boy he called for respect even from the teachers. As anticipated and predicted by Gupta sir, he topped in boards and not Sachin Saxena who otherwise was always “First in Class”. Amber remains every bit the same, a sober Mathematician. Even though Mujib Zuberi despite trying hard could not make it to the event, yet, he was fondly remembered by almost all there. Few days later in Aligarh some of us gathered again at Rohit’s place and he joined. There we learnt he was OSD (Controller of Exams) in AMU. A post normally held by civil services personnel.
After this initial meeting and group photographs, we moved down to a room for a formal gathering. Akhilesh spoke for a while and I took over from him. It was around 2 in afternoon and the world cup final between India and Srilanka had just begun in Mumbai and could be seen on the TV hung on the wall to my left. I was extempore in telling the gathering that in 1983 when we passed high school, India lifted the world cup and today we are meeting, we would win today too. The guys cheered. I then acknowledged Facebook without which it would have been nearly impossible to meet almost all of these childhood buddies. Finally I sang my all-time favorite Kishore Kumar number “AA Chal k Tujhey Main Lekey Chalun Ek Aisey Gagan k Taley”. Applause was more formal than to take as real appreciation.
All of us then briefly introduced ourselves where we stand currently in life as family and professionals. Although almost all have impressive profiles I was particularly impressed by Sharad whose wife is a talented poetess who beautifully sang her own lyrics in her own composition.
Midway through this session lunch was served, simple yet, delicious food added flavor to the party.
I would belittle the whole event by not mentioning Gauri who came all the way from somewhere near Kargil and Anand who flew from Chennai only to attend this meet.
We started dispersing around 5 in evening with determination to keep meeting in future too. If not the best, this was one from the best days of my life so far, which I will cherish for life.
Since then our FB accouts are flooded with comments and expressions of regrets from those who missed out. I found the best comment as “with Gauri commanding her Brigadier husband, Bharat in control of sea and Akhilesh guarding the sky” we (The class of 83) is a power to reckon with.
I conclude with the lines below thanking Akhilesh and Sheeba and all those who attended.
Yahin pe tha mera bachpan, yahin kahin pe tha
yahin hansa tha
yahin kahi pe roya tha
yahin darakhton k saye main
thak k soya tha
Yahin pe tha mera bachpan, yahin kahin pe tha
Yahin pe tha mera bachpan, yahin kahin pe tha……………………………..
